Next up on Bookseller Crow on the Box this Thursday 18th Feb, 7.30pm is a talk on the YA novel ‘Edgar and Adolf’. Co-authored by Phil Earle and Michael Wagg, two football nuts, Edgar and Adolf is based on the true story – and then some – of the last amateur to play for England. Adi is a teenager on a mission to track down the former footballing hero, Edgar Kail, on behalf of his grandfather, Adolf Jäger, whose German team Altona FC played our vintage local side, Dulwich Hamlet, in the 20s and 30s. Still proudly celebrated and beloved by fans of both non-league clubs 100 years on, these two late football stars prove that friendship can outlast war and adversity.
